I have a 12 yr. old chocolate lab mix. I took him to my vet because of his swollen anel sack, she sent samples to the lab, came back neg. for cancer. She said we should get him neutered and the sack should slowly shrink, its been a month now and still no change. It certainly has not slowed him down and he feels fine, but it just is not normal, any clues as to what I can do for him.

Unfortunately I don’t have nearly enough information about your dog to help specifically. In general, anal sac issues can be helped tremendously with proper diet, extra fiber, weight loss if needed and lots of exercise.
