Good afternoon, we have a 4 yr old Dachhound mix and he has had the Surgery to correct this problem. He was paralized in his rear legs but he got the Surgery within 24 hrs of it happening and the Vet. thinks he will recover 100%. Our Vet. tells us it could take a couple of weeks before he walks again and has told us we need to perform Physical therapy every day. My question is simple, he had sugery 3 days ago. Is is too soon to do physical therapy? I do have a call into the Vet but wanted your opinion. Also, we were told to “pinch” his toes in his rear legs, to make sure he has feeling in them, which we have done but he doesn’t seem to have feeling in his left left below the knee. Does anyone know if this is normal? Thanks for the input.

Not at all. Appropriate PT right after disc (and other) surgery, is very important.
