I'm new to the concept of the use of the microchip
for identification of your pet.
What are the pros and cons ?
Are there any safety concerns ?
If you have selected this option for your pet, please advise...
Thanks !

Micro chipping is the only true way you will get your dog back if lost and picked up by the shelter. It is the best way to ID your pet if ever stolen and then found by authorities.
It is almost pain free, most dogs doen't even flinch or notice the injection. It is put up in the loose skin between the sholders. The micro chip is about the size of a grain of rice.
YOU must fill out the information and send to the agency with the required fee.
Other than the fee to inject and register that may be the only con but it is a small price to pay to a life time of positive ID.
