Dog having trouble pee/pooping

Link to this post 22 Dec 05

My dog is 4 years old, mix breed (black lab, terrier, hound) and has never had previous health issues like this.

Yesterday she had the runs and threw up (once) a considerable amount. This morning she is having difficulty peeing and pooping. She tries to but can't. She is dispositionally the same. I'm not sure what she could have gotten into, she had gotten a xmas tree ornament but it wasn't damaged. She isn't one to try to drink the xmas tree solution, never has tried.

Please help! My dad is freaking out over it being another really expensive trip to the vet, we don't have a lot of money and now it being close to xmas we definitly don't. I know if it is something serious we will bring her, we love her to death (we lost our old dog to cancer, but all the tests leading up to it was very costly since they had no clue what was wrong with her, ended up having two grapefruit size tumors twisted in her intestines - we put her down when they found them during surgery).

Since she is feeling fine in all other ways, you can start just by fasting for 24 hours. This will help eliminate any gastrointestinal irritants and toxins.

As this happened two days ago I would imagine that by now she is feeling much better. If that is not the case I recommend at least having her examined by your vet before Christmas to rule out physical abnormalities (they will check her hydration, temp, heart, abdomen, etc.).

Please let us know what's going on and have a great Christmas weekend.
