Kelp powder in the diet?

Link to this post 05 Jul 12

I have been supplementing my cat's food with kelp powder per Dr. Pitcairn's healthy powder recipe. My vet, who practices alternative medicine, told me I should stop adding the kelp. Should I stop and what is your view of adding kelp to the diet?

One of my cats had hyperthyroidism a couple of years ago and was wondering also if the kelp could have caused or instigated that problem.

Hello Home Vet forum,

Our staff at VitaHound is continually searching for authoritative sources in dog nutrition, specifically supplements with a focus on holistic. I thought we should start here, we are big believers in kelp for improving a dog's skin and coat health, for this reason we hope to benefit from the opinions here.
